Sarah McGregor is a global specialist on ethical recruitment and labour migration at the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Sarah has been an advocate for the human and labour rights of migrant workers for over 8 years, with experience on social compliance, ethical recruitment, labour migration, migration governance, integration, diaspora, remittances, and private sector policy.
Over the last five years, Sarah has managed two global initiatives aimed at enhancing the ethical recruitment of migrant workers under IOM’s IRIS: Ethical Recruitment programme. Her initiatives have driven governance and regulatory impacts in the Middle East, East Africa and Central America, overseeing ethical recruitment activities in ten countries, including supporting the negotiation of bilateral labour agreements, labour laws, and regulatory interventions. Sarah oversees private sector engagement on ethical recruitment at IOM, driving advocacy, capacity building, policy, and partnerships. She has successfully generated impacts in the hospitality, agriculture, apparel and manufacturing industries, supporting businesses to generate practical interventions and positive impacts for migrant workers.
Sarah attained a Master of Science in International Development from the University of Edinburgh, where she also served as a researcher on access to justice for migrant workers. Sarah also has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Peacebuilding from Brigham Young University- Hawaii, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
